Safeguarding determines the actions that we take to keep children safe and protect them from harm in all aspects of their school life. As a school we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our pupils. The actions that we take to prevent harm; to promote wellbeing; to create safe environments; to educate on rights, respect and responsibilities; to respond to specific issues and vulnerabilities all form part of the safeguarding responsibilities of the school.
Hampshire Safeguarding Children Partnership (HSCP) is a statutory body that leads on keeping children safe and ensuring their wellbeing in the local authority (LA) area of Hampshire. The Partnership includes local agencies who work together to make sure that child protection services in Hampshire are effective and keep our children safe. Further information, including links to resources for children, parents and professionals can be found on the HSCP website: hampshirescp.org.uk.
The school's designated safeguarding lead (DSL) is Graham Cutter (headteacher). Deputy designated safeguarding leads (DDSLs) are Loren Way (deputy headteacher), Hollie Shilling (SENCO) and Amber Palmer (ELSA/HSLW). In most circumstances it will be the DSL or DDSL who will make a referral to Children's Services, however in the event that a member of staff needs to make a direct referral then they should use the Inter-Agency Referral Form. Members of public, including parents and carers can contact Children's Services using the enquiry form.
Children can contact Childline about anything that is worrying them. Childline is free, confidential and available any time, day or night. The Children telephone number is: 0800 1111.
