Year R Admissions
In line with good practice in Hampshire schools, we admit rising fives full-time at the beginning of the academic year in which they become five. Applications for admission into our Year R class are handled by Hampshire County Council and parents should complete an online application or collect an application form from their catchment school and return it by the closing date in January of the academic year before their child is due to start school. https://www.hants.gov.uk/educationandlearning/admissions
Information for New Year R Parents
We hold an induction evening for parents of our new Reception Class during the summer term before they start school. This provides an opportunity for parents to meet key staff and governors, collect further information and discuss any individual needs.
Induction Afternoons
We encourage our new Year R children to attend our 'stay and play' sessions for the children and parents during the summer term. This is a great opportunity for the children to meet others in their new class and to become more familiar with the teaching staff and the learning environment.
Home Visits
Our Early Years teachers and support staff visit children and their parents or carers at home either at the end of the summer term or at the beginning of the autumn. This provides a positive opportunity for children, staff and families to get to know each other in an environment where the children are most confident.
Starting School
Children can find their first few weeks at school demanding, both physically and mentally but our experienced staff plan for every child's needs and our children settle quickly into school life. All of our new Year R children attend school full-time from the second week of term, although a phased entry can be devised to accommodate special needs when appropriate.
